Remembering our animal family members that left our farm as residents but never our hearts. They brought us days of joy and made Sunset Hill Farm so special and unique.
Pat & Mike
Brought to the farm at a young age, Pat and Mike were a staple of Sunset Hill Farm. They were trained to be a working oxen team, and together with their dad Shawn performed many tasks around the farm. He built them different yokes from scratch as they grew, which are still displayed inside the barn today. As they got older, Pat and Mike could be found grazing and hanging around the fields of Sunset Hill Farm. They were gentle giants, loved by the Dam family and the whole community in Charlton, MA. You could usually find them being accompanied by Rascal, a barn kitten that believed Pat and Mike were his family, and usually slept on their backs and cuddled with them in the winter. Pat and Mike left us in 2021, a difficult year for the farm, but their spirit lives with us.

Rascal
Rascal was just a little kitten when he found his way to the farm. Aleta and her friend were playing outside one afternoon when they heard what sounded like meowing coming from the bushes. When they went to look they found a sweet little fluffy gray kitten! We don’t know where he came from or how he found us but we are so lucky he did, Rascal was such a blessing and a cat with a larger than life personality. He settled into farm life well, and soon adopted Pat and Mike as his parents. You could find him lounging on their backs at any time of the day. When we lost Pat, Rascal was there to keep Mike company, faithful friends and family until the end. But Rascal was also known for Rascally personality, he would be sweet as pie one minute and then sassy the next. He was also friends with our other barn cat at the time, Butternut. While we never knew what adventures he went on during the day, we know they were grand. We miss you Rascal, and you spirit will always live on at the farm.
